The Family Literacy Afternoon for K-2 at Tukurngailnguq School was a great success!
11 families attended the event last Friday, March 1st with the theme, “Under the Sea”.
The event focused on communicating to families that their active role in their children’s language and literacy development is essential.
Students and parents enjoyed the different activities. Among the activities they experienced were fishing CVC words, reading comprehension, CVC word puzzles, and the under the sea arts and crafts. Each student also had the chance to pick a book they could bring home.
The event ended with families leaving the building with smiles on their faces.

The Educators Rising Stebbins chapter made a mark at the 2024 state competition and conference in Juneau, Alaska, on February 22-23. Two students won first place, another secured second, one placed third, alongside all remaining members finishing in the top 6.
The students of Stebbins showcased their dedication and skill in the field of education. This achievement is a testament to the hard work, preparation, and passion for teaching that the students have cultivated under the guidance of their Teacher Leader, Sisa Paje.
They crafted and presented detailed lesson plans, wrote and delivered speeches with confidence, practiced how to ace job interviews, and explored the magical world of children's literature to create enchanting stories.
The chapter's success not only highlights the talent and potential of its members but also underscores the importance of effective leadership in shaping the educators and leaders of tomorrow.

This outstanding performance demonstrated the team's dedication and hard work under the guidance of coach Sarah Rivera with the help of other teachers in the school. What makes it even more impressive is that they didn't have a lot of time to prepare but they still did an awesome job.
