NO PRACTICE THIS WEEK!- Due to the school being on Code Red, and the recommendation by NSHC that the village be on lock down, there will be no Cross Country practice the rest of this week.
SCHOOL ON CODE RED! - We have at least one positive COVID-19 case in Golovin and 17 close contacts in the school. Because of this school will be open to staff only for the rest of this week. LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT! - A letter from Dr. Bolen has been added to the documents page of the school web site. This letter will help explain our plan for how the first few weeks of school will relate to the current COVID conditions. We will send a coy home with students as well.

BACK TO SCHOOL! Students return to school on Wednesday August 25th. The first two weeks school will be released at 3:00 pm. After Labor Day we plan to be back on to our normal schedule. A copy of the current School Year calendar is posted on our "Documents" page. WELCOME BACK!
AEC Positions Opening! - There will be two AEC positions up for re-election this year. Public notices will be posted at the stores, EDA building and the Post Office. Affidavit of Candidacy and Eligibility are available at the school.
OOPS!! - I forgot to include Jamie White. She will be our new Special Education teacher, taking a lot of pressure off of Sheri Elligsen. Jamie and Zachary Dube are fellow Texans. Welcome to Jamie, too!
CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING! - The season officially starts July 28th. Our new, incoming, teacher Zachary Dube will be the coach. Though he will not be in town until August 13th please start practicing on your own as soon as possible. Let's have a great Cross Country Running season!
BACK TO SCHOOL & WELCOME NEW TEACHERS! It's getting close to that time of the year that we start looking forward to the next school year. We will have 3 new teachers this year - Melissa Schuyler-Carlson will be transferring to us from Savoonga to teach Secondary Science, Zachary Dube will be our new Secondary Social Studies teacher and Josephine Paredes will be a new elementary teacher. Can't wait to see you all in August.
PICNIC CANCELLED : ( Due to the rain we will not be able to have the picnic on the beach today. Hotdogs and sides will be served in the kitchen.

LAST OPEN GYM!- Thursday, May 20th will be the last night for Open Gym. Any shoes left in the gym at the end of school on Friday will be donated to charity. Please contact the school for more information.
AWARD CEREMONY! - M L O School will have our end of year Award Ceremony Wednesday the 19th at 2:30 in the gym. Family members are welcome to come join in. For more information contact the school.
GRADUATION! - Our 2021 graduates will be honored Saturday, May 15 , at 2:00 pm. All family and friends are welcome to attend. Masks will be required until seated and social distancing between family groups will need to be observed. Please come and support our seniors. Call the school for more details.
On Monday, May 10, 2021, the FDA approved the authorization of the Pfizer Vaccine for students aged 12-15, now allowing all individuals 12 and up to receive the COVID-19 Vaccine if they wish. The CDC formally approved the Pfizer Vaccine for 12 and up today as expected. This will begin to move us further towards our school reopening efforts for next year, as well as allow more communities to reach that 80% mark for further reopening of our region. Teams from NSHC will be put together Thursday, May 13 and be ready to begin administering shots on Friday, May 14, 2021. As stated before, I have approved teams from NSHC to come into the schools and provide shots as necessary. Attached are links to the Pfizer Vaccination Consent Form for parents and the EUA referenced on the form. If you would like for your child to receive the vaccination at the school, please complete this form and return it to your school office by Friday, May 14, 2021. The Bering Strait School District highly recommends all eligible students and community members get the vaccine to assist in our efforts of keeping all our students, staff, and communities safe.
